Other forms: corn syrups
Corn syrup is a thick, liquid sweetener. When it's chemically treated to increase its sweetness, it becomes high-fructose corn syrup, which is an ingredient in some mass-produced food and drinks.
Corn syrup is produced by pulling the sugar from the starch of corn. It's used for a variety of purposes including: to give baked goods a longer shelf life; to add a glossy sheen to melted chocolate; and to make marshmallows and other types of candy. When corn syrup is further processed to change some of its glucose into fructose, making it extra sweet, it becomes high-fructose corn syrup. Either way, you're basically talking about liquid sugar!
